BERITA SOLO - The Muhammadiyah Central Executive deplored the statement of the Head of the Presidential Staff Office, General (Ret.) Moeldoko, regarding the potential for vulnerability ahead of the trial of the 2019 Presidential Election dispute at the Constitutional Court (MK). Moeldoko said there were 30 suspected terrorists detected entering Jakarta.

"This statement is too dangerous to be conveyed in the public sphere," said Muhammadiyah's Head of Legal, Human Rights and Public Policy, Muhammad Busyro Muqoddas, in his written statement in Jakarta, Thursday, June 27, 2019.

According to Busyro, the government should be more careful in conveying information to the public. Moreover, he said, in the political agenda like today the government must be wise and wise in creating a more conducive atmosphere.

"As the Head of the KSP who is a state official, it should not be in a hurry to make a public statement on the sensitive issue about terrorism," Busyro said.

The former head of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) advised, the State should be able to conduct an analysis in advance of information on the existence of 30 terrorists who wanted to enter the capital through BIN institutions and related officials, to be prevented. Such information should not be conveyed to the public and disturb public psychology in the atmosphere of the current political agenda.

"Moeldoko's statement also reflects the state's failure to evaluate and prevent the occurrence of terrorism and other violence," he said.

Busyro explained, the stigma of terrorism and violence is always attached to the symbols of Islam that have begun since the Soeharto era until the present era. 1971 was started by state terrorism labeled the Jamaah Islam, Usroh, Komando Jihad. Now with Islamic labels and suspected perpetrators who are always Islamic.

He also questioned, in the period that has been too long, how the success of the government in dealing with terrorism. "Will always attach the stigma of terrorism to Muslim groups," he asked.

According to Busyro, so that the stigmatization of terrorism against Muslim groups does not become a psychological terror to Muslims, the government and the state are time to be more honest and openly explain the root of the problem.

In addition, he also urged the president to be able to control the cabinet to be fair and open in evaluating public statements while making corrections that the real problem that plagued the community was the impact of massive impoverishment due to political corruption that hit the state bureaucracy as well as the roots of radicalism and social conflict.

"The government should be increasingly aware of the role and contribution of Muslims in the recent elections and election processes as authentic social capital. So it needs to be protected by its socio-political rights, and avoid the tendency to be a seasonal political commodity, "concluded Busyro.
